About Our Founder, Cansu Åžekerci

Born in Istanbul, Cansu graduated from Üsküdar American High School and completed her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Sabancı University. Discovering her passion for fashion at a young age, Cansu began her career in the retail sector with the Kığılı Men’s Clothing brand, where she gained valuable experience in fashion and brand management.

Cansu completed her Master's degree in Luxury and Fashion Brand Management at the Istituto Marangoni** in the UK. During her time in London, she worked on projects with renowned brands such as Burberry, Mulberry, and Pringle of Scotland, and had the opportunity to gain more in-depth industry experience with having a chance to work with famous designers like Hussein Chalayan.

Upon returning to Istanbul, Cansu joined the women's fashion buying department at the Harvey Nichols Turkey headquarters, where she was responsible for overseeing the purchase of prestigious international brands. In 2016, she began working at Beymen Group in the women's brand management department, executing various projects in the field of brand management.

How Did House Bağdat Come to Life?

Between 2010 and 2018, Cansu built the foundation of House BaÄŸdat with the experience she gained working in the private fashion & retail sector. In 2018, she left corporate life entirely and began her entrepreneurial journey at House BaÄŸdat full-time. Today, House BaÄŸdat represents a unique blend of Cansu’s expertise in fashion, luxury, and brand management.

The name of our brand, House BaÄŸdat, is inspired by BaÄŸdat Caddesi (Baghdad Street), a renowned and upscale avenue located on the Asian side of Istanbul, Turkey. Once a historic route, today BaÄŸdat Street is a vibrant and bustling hub, lined with luxury shops, cafés, restaurants, and high-end boutiques, symbolizing elegance and sophistication.
